Franklin Bench - Leafy Spurge
The foothills northeast of Franklin, Idaho have a large infestation of leafy spurge. Bioncontrol insects (flea beetles) have been introduced but are not yet well established so this project was organized to apply Plateau herbicide to assist the biocontrol insects.
U&I members from all five counties, including weed departments, US Forest Service and private citzens converged on the foothills above Franklin, Idaho to control about 100 acres of leafy spurge.
Because of very steep and rugged terrain ATV's were the equipment of choice for all the spraying. The spurge was scattered throughout the area from large patches to individual plants.
