Each year the partners of the UICWMA join forces, without regard for the artificial borders of state and county, to help each other tackle large scale noxious weed projects, projects too large for just one weed department to do easily. Since the CWMA began, our partners have helped each other control hundreds of acres of weeds, often bringing the project infestations down to a level that the local weed departments can manage them on their own. Click on the links below to see examples of some of the projects that have been done recently.
The 2007 Annual U&ICWMA Essay contest was judged recently and Ariel Tayson of Marsh Valley High School (right) won top honors. Congratulations to Ariel! To see more about the essay contest CLICK HERE.
The Bag of Woad program is one of our longest running programs and a favorite of the public. Each year in May and June, each county holds their own Bag of Woad program recruiting youth and adults to harvest dyer's woad and earn a nice bounty too. For more information on the Bag of Woad CLICK HERE. Each county has their own rules so contact your local weed department for information regarding your county's Bag of Woad program.
